WINONA STATE HOSTS WAYNE STATE AND AUGUSTANA RIDING THREE-GAME WIN STREAK

WINONA, Minn. - The Winona State men's basketball team continues their 2025-26 regular season with a pair of home contests against Wayne State College and Augustana University on February 5 and 7. WSU enters the week on a three-game winning streak.

The Warriors will first take on Wayne State College on Thursday, February 5 at 7:30pm. WSU is 38-24 all time against the Wildcats, including dropping a tight 65-64 contest earlier this season on December 20, 2025, in Wayne, Neb.

On Saturday, February 7, Winona State will battle the Augustana Vikings at 3:00pm. The Warriors are 21-19 in the all-time series with the Vikings, including falling 84-68 on December 18, 2025, in Sioux Falls, S.D. Saturday's game vs. Augustana will be 'Family Day' with activities for youth beginning at 12:00pm. All K-12 youth will receive free admission courtesy of Fastenal Blue Team Sports. There will be giveaways, interactive games, and activities for youth during the game.

WSU is excited to announce all ticketing will be fully digital this year. All fans are encouraged to purchase tickets online before arriving at the venue. Cash will not be accepted at the gate.

Winona State Notes:
  • Winona State enters the week 8-13 (7-9 NSIC) winning last weekend's games, defeating UMary 84-80 and pulling out a 67-62 victory over Minot State.
  • The Warriors enter the 2025-26 season ranked ninth in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll. 
  • Head Coach Todd Eisner is in his 11th season at the helm of the program. He is 166-131 during his tenure with the Warriors. 
  • Winona State enters the week averaging 69.5 ppg and giving up 76.4 ppg.
  • WSU is 44.6% (536-of-1201) from the field and 31.9% (150-of-470) from three-point range on the season. Winona State is third in the NSIC in free throw percentage at a clip of 74.8% (238-of-318).
  • Tyler Mason checks in at a team-best 13.5 points per game on 41.1% (99-of-239) shooting. Mason leads the team in FT percentage at 88.1% (37-of-42).
  • Ryan Heise looks to continue his strong season averaging 13.3 ppg and 5.5 rpg.
  • Gavyn Hurley adds 12.9 ppg while Aidan Bardic leads the squad with 3.2 assists per game.
  • Following this week, the Warriors hit the road, facing SMSU and Sioux Falls on February 12 and 14 respectively.
Wayne State Notes:
  • Wayne State travels to Winona State on a five-game winning streak. The Wildcats took down Minnesota Duluth 77-70 and defeated Bemidji State 76-67 last week.
  • Wayne State is 14-8 (10-6 NSIC) during the 2025-26 campaign.
  • The Wildcats enter the 2025-26 season ranked 10th in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll. 
  • Head Coach Jeff Kaminsky enters his 10th season at the helm of the WSC program. He has compiled a career record of 596-500 in his experienced coaching career.
  • Wayne State averages 78.1 ppg while allowing 73.5 ppg to opponents.
  • Matt Noll leads the Wildcats offensive attack with 14.0 ppg, 4.6 rpg, and 2.4 apg.
  • Other notable scorers are Andrew Stokes (13.7), JJ Ferrin (11.4), and Aurrion Harris who averages 10.6 ppg and a team-high 7.2 rpg.
  • Following the game against the Warriors, WSC heads to Concordia-St. Paul on February 7 at 3:00pm.
Augustana Notes:
  • Augie is red-hot entering the week, winning their last six games, including taking down Bemidji State 69-67 and defeating Minnesota Duluth 96-84 last week.
  • Augustana is 14-7 (12-4 NSIC) during the 2025-26 campaign.
  • The Vikings enter the 2025-26 season ranked fifth in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll. 
  • Head Coach Cody Schilling is in his second year with the team. Schilling is 26-25 in his coaching career.
  • The Vikings average 83.2 ppg while allowing 76.7 ppg to opponents.
  • Tameron Ferguson leads the Vikings with 20.9 ppg, good for third best in the NSIC. He adds an NSIC leading 6.3 apg with his 4.5 rpg.
  • Caden Hinter averages 15.4 ppg and a team-best 6.8 rpg while Sam Rensch chips in with 13.6 ppg.
  • Before they take on the Warriors, the Vikings face Concordia-St. Paul on Thursday, February 5 at 7:30pm in St. Paul, Minn.
