WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State softball team swept the Jamestown Jimmies in a NSIC doubleheader with score of 3-0 and 2-0.
The WSU softball team was able to shut out the newly added Jamestown Jimmies in their second NSIC doubleheader of the season pushing them to 4-0 in the conference and 25-4 overall.
Game One: WSU (3) – UJ (0)
Winona State started game one with a
Lila McNeill RBI single in the bottom of the first inning that would score
Alyssa Woelfel. The scoring would be scarce, but the Warriors managed to score in the third inning on a sacrifice fly from
Bryn Elsenpeter who would score
Tiegan Mancuso, and another McNeill RBI double in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Winona States'
Izzy Howe would get the win after pitching three innings and allowing zero runs to start the game.
Ashley Theisen would follow up Howe, pitching four innings of her own and racking up seven strikeouts and helping the Warriors secure the shutout win moving them to 3-0 in NSIC play.
Game Two: WSU (2) – UJ (0)
Jayda Berg tossed a shutout game in the second match of the doubleheader, only allowing one hit and garnering six strikeouts in the win.
Whitley Wischmeier was able to drive the two runs of the game with the first coming in the bottom of the fourth inning off a RBI single to left field that would score
Braelee Jodarski. Wischmeier's second RBI would come from a fielders choice, scoring
Madi Rowe.
Winona State will be in action next on Saturday, March 28th at 12:00pm as they travel to UMary in Bismark, N. D. to take on the Marauders in a doubleheader.
