WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State softball team will travel to UMary and Minot State to play their first NSIC road games of the season.
The first doubleheader against the UMary Marauders will begin at 12:00pm on Saturday, Match 28th with game two scheduled to start at 2:00pm. For the matchup against the Minot State Beavers, first pitch is set for 12:00pm on Sunday, March 29th with game two scheduled for 2:00pm.
#23 Winona State Notes:
- The Warriors (25-4, 4-0 NSIC) are ranked #23 after starting NSIC play with a 4-0 record and winning nine of their last ten games.
- Lila McNeill leads the charge with a batting average of .409 (38-of-93) with 21 RBIs and 55 total bases, leading the team.
- Bryn Elsenpeter leads Winona State's offense with six home runs and 23 RBIs this season. She also holds an OPS of 1.103, leading the team.
- Whitley Wischmeier holds the highest on-base percentage for WSU with .517 and a batting average of .440.
- Ashlee Chantos has two triples on the season, leading the team and currently has a .571 slugging percentage.
- Jayda Berg has the lowest ERA on the team with 1.49 and holds a 10-2 record and an opponent batting average of .211.
- Izzy Howe carries the best record on the team with 11-1 and holds opposing batters to a .202 average.
- Ashley Theisen rounds out the pitching staff with a team low WHIP of .70 paired with a 4-0 record on seven appearances this season.
UMary Notes:
- The Marauders (10-16, 0-4 NSIC) are coming off a pair of doubleheaders against CSP and SCSU in which they went 0-4 in collectively.
- Kaitlyn McLaughlin leads UMary with a .380 batting average with eight RBIs and 35 total hits. She also leads the team in triples with four.
- Arria Johnson leads the Marauders pitchers with an ERA of 2.92 and a 1.38 WHIP. Johnson also holds a 6-5 record this season.
- As a team, UMary is batting 3.27 and holds a .408 on-base percentage through 26 games.
Minot State Notes:
- The Beavers (16-12, 1-3 NSIC) are coming off a split doubleheader against SCSU and a 0-2 showing against CSP.
- Mallory Hoogensen holds the top batting average for MISU with a .406 and on on-base percentage of .472.
- Katie Newberry locks down the pitching staff with an ERA of 1.32 and a WHIP of .93. Newberry also holds a 5-3 record so far this season.
- As a team, Minot State is batting .309 and has a .376 on-base percentage through 26 games.
