PITTSBURG, Kan. –
Peyton Coahran's individual championship led Winona State men's golf to fourth place at the Tommy Riggs Collegiate Invitational.
Coahran carded rounds of 72, 76, and 71 in the three-round, two-day event to defeat a field of 98 golfers, including nine ranked individuals. Coahran secured the individual victory after shooting a 71 (-1) on the final round to jump into first place and finish with a total score of 219 (+3).
The Warriors finished fourth out of 18 teams with a 909 (305, 304, 300), one stroke behind #29 Central Missouri and 19 strokes behind the team champions, #7 Central Oklahoma.
Luke Maas finished tied for sixth overall with rounds of 78 (+6), 73 (+1), and 74 (+2).
Javier Ramos Casariego earned a top 15 finish after shooting three straight rounds of 76 (+4).
Max Jericho and
Logan Chouinard rounded out the WSU lineup after scoring three round totals of 238 and 240, respectively. Jericho went 79, 80, and 79 while Chouinard tallied rounds of 81, 79, and 80.
Winona State is in action next week as they travel to the Firekeeper Open hosted by Washburn University in Mayetta, Kan.
