WINONA, Minn. – The WSU men's and women's golf teams will start the spring with the Warrior Invitational hosted in Henderson, Nev. on Wednesday, March 11th and Thursday, March 12th at the Legacy Golf Club.
The Warrior women's golf team looks to build off a strong fall showing after reaching top three at the Golden Bear Invitational and the Jewel Invitational. While the WSU men's team prepares to maintain their dominance after reaching first place in three invitationals this past fall.
Women's Golf Notes:
- The Warriors have finished in the top four for half of their events this season along with a sixth-place finish in the 19 team Grace Shin Invitational.
- Lindsey Lund is the top ranked Warrior on the team with an average score of 79.0 in her 10 rounds competed. Lund also took 10th at the Jewel Invitational, her highest this season.
- Megan Young leads Winona State with an average score of 78.9 in 10 rounds competed. She also has two top 10 finishes this season at the Jewel and Sioux Falls Invitationals.
- Kessa Mara is averaging a 79.7 score for the Warriors and had her top placement this season at the Maverick Invitational at 10th place.
- Georgia Volley rounds out the Warriors top performers so far this season with an average score of 80.0.
Men's Golf Notes:
- The Warriors have dominated the course this season, finishing in first place at the Maverick Invitational, Jewel Invitational, and the Sioux Falls Invitational.
- Peyton Coahran has been voted the NSIC Golfer of the Week award twice this season. Coahran has two wins this season and an average score of 71.8.
- Javier Ramos Casariego has a scoring average of 71.8 this season after 12 rounds. Casariego was also voted NSIC Golfer of the Week once this season.
- Luke Maas has two top three finishes under his belt and a scoring average of 72.5 in 12 rounds.
- Logan Chouinard has gathered one win and two top three finishes so far this season on eight rounds played while averaging a 74.6 score.
- Tyler Gandrud has competed in 12 rounds, and scores 73.0 on average and has one top three finish this season.
