WARRIOR SOFTBALL TAKES ON SMSU AND USF IN NEUTRAL SITE DOUBLEHEADERS

WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State University softball team will play in a pair of neutral site doubleheaders this weekend against Southwest Minnesota State and Sioux Falls.
 
The Warriors were originally scheduled to play in true road games at SMSU and USF but due to weather, the games have been moved to neutral sites. Winona State and Southwest Minnesota State will square off at the Maverick Sports Dome in Mankato, Minn. on Friday, April 3 at 1:00pm/3:00pm. Then on Saturday, April 4, the Warriors and Sioux Falls will play at the RCTC Dome in Rochester, Minn. at 2:00pm/4:00pm.
 
#22 Winona State Notes:
  • The Warriors (29-4, 8-0 NSIC) are ranked No. 22 in the nation in the most recent NFCA Coaches' Poll and are atop the NSIC with an unblemished 8-0 record.
  • WSU leads the NSIC with a .342 team batting average, 224 runs, 323 hits, 30 home runs, 209 RBI, .523 slugging percentage, and .416 on-base percentage.
  • Alyssa Woelfel leads the league in runs scored (38) and RBI (36).
  • Lila McNeill holds a team-best .396 batting average, 42 hits, and 11 doubles.
  • Jayda Berg and Izzy Howe remain two of the best pitchers in the league, racking up 13 and 12 wins respectively.
 
Southwest Minnesota State Notes:
  • The Mustangs are 21-13 overall and 7-1 within the NSIC.
  • SMSU is riding a four-game win streak after sweeping UMD and BSU last weekend.
  • Jordyn Marsh leads the pitching staff, holding a 1.33 ERA with a 13-4 record in 20 appearances.
  • Aliza Acker has a team-high .345 batting average with 10 doubles and 18 RBI.
 
Sioux Falls Notes:
  • The Cougars are 19-14 overall and 7-1 in the NSIC.
  • USF comes into this week after winning their previous six contests, allowing just one run in the last four games.
  • Maddi Duncan leads the Cougars in the circle with a 1.28 ERA through 109.1 innings pitches. Duncan leads the NSIC in opposing batting average (.156) and strikeouts (158).
  • Emma Kristof is hitting .357 at the plate with a .500 slugging percentage and .902 OPS.
