WINONA, Minn. – The Winona state softball team will travel to Concordia-St Paul and return home to face St. Cloud State this weekend.
The Warriors will start off the weekend with a road doubleheader against Concordia-St. Paul on Friday, April 18th with first pitch scheduled for 2:00pm. The trip will bring WSU back home on Sunday, April 19th with games scheduled for 1:00pm/3:00pm.
#24 Winona State Notes:
- Winona State is currently ranked #21 in the nation in the most recent NFCA Coaches' Poll and are atop the NSIC with an outstanding 16-2 record.
- The Warriors 37-6 (16-2 NSIC) lead the conference in batting average with .338, and with 274 runs, 402 hits, 250 RBIs, 620 total bases, .521 slugging percentage, and a .415 on-base percentage.
- Alyssa Woelfel is top five in the NSIC in batting average with a .410 and is top three in OPS with 1.183. Woelfel was also voted NSIC player of the week last week.
- Bryn Elsenpeter is top five in the conference in runs batted in with 37 while also securing a top ten spot for doubles and home runs with 13 and eight, respectively.
- Lila McNeill and Teigan Mancuso both find themselves in the top 10 for hits this season in the NSIC with 48 and 47, respectively. Mancuso also holds a top 10 batting average in the conference (.382).
- Jayda Berg is top ten in the conference in ERA (1.84), opposing batting average (.218), batters struck out (103), walks allowed (9) while also being top three in saves (3), wins (16), and innings pitched (129.0).
- Izzy Howe is top five in the NSIC with 123 strikeouts while also holding opponents' batting average to .222. Howe has 12 wins on the season with 2 saves as well.
- Ashley Theisen has only allowed 16 earned runs this season, putting her at second in the category in the entire NSIC. Theisen also has given up only 38 hits and hold batters to a .226 average, putting her in the top 10 for both categories to go along with her undefeated record.
Concordia-St. Paul Notes:
- The Golden Bears have a 22-17 overall record and are 11-5 in the NSIC.
- CSP is coming off two back-to-back series splits against Sioux Falls and Southwest Minnesota State.
- Sophomore Abi Carter leads the pitching staff with a 1.66 ERA and a 4-2 record so far this season.
- Senior Riley Rosenthal leads the Golden Bears bats with a .346 batting average and 46 hits so far this season.
St. Cloud State Notes:
- The Huskies are 31-11 overall and maintain a 13-3 record in the NSIC.
- SCSU is coming off a 4-0 weekend against Southwest Minnesota State and Sioux Falls.
- Junior Bethany Weiss leads the bats for St. Cloud State with a .347 batting average and 51 hits so far this season.
- Senior Macey Clark leads the pitching staff for the Huskies with a 1.53 ERA and a win-loss of 13-5 so far this season.
