SMITHVILLE, Mo. – Winona State University's Peyton Coahran has been named the NSIC Outstanding Senior of the Year for men's golf, as voted on by the league's head coaches.

The "NSIC Outstanding Senior of the Year Award" is presented to a NSIC Men's Golf student-athlete who participates at their institution for four years and is academically superior while making a positive contribution to their team and the University. The NSIC Outstanding Senior of the Year award was initiated in 2021-22 to honor an outstanding senior that exemplifies the attributes of the model NSIC student-athlete.

Coahran, a senior from Spicer, Minnesota, is majoring in composite engineering at Winona State and holds a 3.76 cumulative grade-point average.

On the course, Coahran has established himself as one of the top golfers in NCAA Division II, currently ranked third in the Central Region and 36th nationally—the highest ranking among NSIC golfers. He has recorded first-place finishes in five of eight tournaments this season and has placed in the top 10 in seven of eight events. A two-time tournament winner last season, Coahran has started every event of his collegiate career while consistently finishing among the top competitors. This past summer, he advanced to stage two of U.S. Open qualifying.

In the classroom, Coahran has earned the Presidential Academic Award every semester of his collegiate career and is a recipient of the NSIC Myles Brand All-Academic Award.

Beyond athletics and academics, Coahran has contributed to his community through his work at junior golf camps at his home course, totaling more than 30 hours of service.

"Peyton will go down in history as one of the best golfers to ever play at Winona State," said WSU Head Golf Coach Jeff Straight. "His grit and determination are like no other player. His professionalism on the golf course is an incredible example for others to learn from. Peyton's work ethic is unmatched, and he is the gold standard for what it takes to play golf at the next level. He has also done a great job in the classroom pursuing his composite engineering degree. It has been an absolute pleasure to coach him for the past four years."
