WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State women's soccer team will start the 2026 regular season at home against UW-Parkside on Thursday, August 27th at 5:00pm.
The nonconference match up will be a rematch from the 2025 season opener where Winona State found the 2-1 victory.
There will be
no ticket sales at the gate. All tickets must be purchased online prior to arriving at the venue. Tickets can be purchased at this link:
Winona State Notes:
- Winona State was slotted to finish the NSIC in ninth place in the 2026 NSIC Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll garnering 104 points in the poll.
- The Warriors are looking to build off last season's 7-6-4 record and ninth place finish in the NSIC.
- Coach Marier in her third season as head coach of the Warriors noted, "What excites me most about this team is the blend of experience and hunger we have heading into the season. We return key pieces on both sides of the ball, and we have already seen the leadership taking shape. This group has bought into raising the standard for what we expect from ourselves day to day. We're a team that's hungry to compete for a conference title, and I love the energy we're bringing into the fall."
- Kyleigh Jannisch, a junior from Aurora, Ill., was picked to be the Warriors offense player to watch in 2026. Jannisch scored five goals and added one assist on 28 shots in her 17 matches played last season.
- Annika Groendal, a senior from New Berlin, Wis., was voted to be WSU's defensive player to watch in 2026. Groendal played a total of 1182 minutes in 15 matches last season while keeping opponent goals per game at 1.29.
UW-Parkside Notes:
- UW-Parkside finished the 2025 season with a 10-8-2 record and a 9-4-1 record in the GLIAC finishing third in the conference.
- The defending 2025 GLIAC Tournament champions return Ava Rizzitano, a junior forward who led UWP with six goals and three assists last season.
- Rangers Head Coach Brittany Nikolic returns for her 12th season with UW-Parkside, looking to build off her most successful campaign in program history last season.
