Winona State football takes on Jamestown in home opener

WINONA, Minn. – Winona State football will host the University of Jamestown on Saturday, September 12th at 1:00 p.m. at Altra Federal Credit Union Stadium for the home opener.
 
The Warriors (0-2, 0-1 NSIC) and the Jimmies (0-2, 0-1 NSIC) will square off in the first ever meeting between the two schools. UJ is coming off a 31-0 loss against Sioux Falls while WSU fell 31-16 to Northern State last week.
 
Fans attending the contest will need to purchase tickets online prior to arriving at the venue. There will be no ticket sales at the gate. Tickets can be purchased at this link: https://winonastate.vivenushop.com/
 
Winona State invites all fans to participate in the Warrior Game Day Experience, beginning at 11:00am at the intersection of Johnson and Mark streets on the campus of WSU. Kickoff for the home opener will be at 1:00pm in Altra Federal Credit Union Stadium.

The Warriors will continue the football luncheon this year at the Riverport Inn & Suites at 12pm every Thursday throughout the football season.
 
Winona State Notes:
  • The Warriors look to put their first tally in the win column for the 2026 season, after starting 0-2 with losses at NCAA DI St. Thomas and Northern State.
  • WSU boasts the sixth-best defense in the league, allowing 23 points per game and 368.0 yards/game.
  • Winona State leads the NSIC with four made field goals this season. Sophomore kicker Evan Swanstrom is 4-4 with a long of 38 yards.
  • The tandem of Noah Smith and Jahmani Muhammad lead the Warrior backfield. Both running backs are inside the top 11 for rushing average within the NSIC.
  • Quarterback Jackson Flottmeyer is 31-59 with 289 yards on the year. Flottmeyer has found the endzone once and has two turnovers.
  • Ethan Doucette leads WSU with 14 total tackles across two games, including nine solo stops.
  • Winona State's next four opponents after this week are all currently ranked in the AFCA DII Coaches Poll.
 
Jamestown Notes:
  • Jamestown is looking for their second-ever NSIC victory this week. The Jimmies went 1-9 in league play during their first season in the NSIC last year.
  • UJ allows an average of 30.5 points per game while scoring just 6.5 points/game.
  • Running back Mason Whitley has averaged 64 yards per game to lead UJ on the ground.
  • Cole Hentges has appeared in both games, going 10-33 with three interceptions while Jacob Mattick saw action under center last week, throwing 11-21 with 90 yards and a pick.
  • Josh Bosacker leads the UJ defense with 16 tackles, including 2.5 tackles for loss.
  • Jamestown has yet to kick a field goal this season and have scored two touchdowns.
  • The Jimmies head to Wayne State next weekend in back-to-back road contests.
