WINONA, Minn. – Winona State soccer opens NSIC play with a pair of home contests against the University of Jamestown and Northern State University.
The Warriors (0-2) take on the Jimmies (0-2-1) on Friday, September 11th at 3:00 p.m. and the Wolves (1-1) on Sunday, September 13th at 1:00 p.m.
Fans attending the contest will need to purchase tickets online prior to arriving at the venue. There will be

Winona State Notes:
- Winona State kicks off the season against the University of Jamestown in the second ever meeting between the two schools. WSU won 4-0 last year after four second-half goals.
- Annika Groendal, a senior hailing from New Berlin, Wis., was listed as WSU's defensive player to watch heading into the season. Groendal brings a steady and composed presence to the backline after playing in 15 games last season and holding opponents to 1.29 goals per game.
- Kyleigh Jannisch, a junior from Aurora, Ill., was picked as WSU's offensive player to watch for the 2026 season. Jannisch was tied for first on the team in total goals (5) in 17 matches played and 19 shots on goal.
- Abigail Rounds has played 166:03 minutes in net for the Warriors and has made six saves.
- Jacey Sturek leads all field players with 161 minutes played. Sturek is tied for a team-best two shots this season.
- Annika Groendal, Kyleigh Jannisch, McKayla Paukner, and Adrianna Bixby are WSU's captains for the 2026 season.
Jamestown Notes:
- The Jimmies are 0-2-1 with a tie against Roosevelt in their season opener. Most recently, UJ lost 1-0 to Minot State.
- Bre Oettle has scored Jamestown's only goal this season and has put four shots on goal.
- Marisa Brown leads the team with 264 minutes played across three starts.
- Taylor Musser has made all three starts in goal, allowing five goals and making 12 saves.
- Jamestown will travel to Concordia-St. Paul for a match on Sunday after the contests against WSU.
Northern State Notes:
- The Wolves hold a 1-1 record with a win against Northwest Missouri State and a loss against Missouri Western.
- NSU has found the back of the net three times this year, all from different players.
- Ella Johnson, Chloe Voss, and Lauren Youngquist each scored one goal.
- Lauren Carpenter leads NSU with eight shots and four shots on goal.
- Audrey Burns started both contests this season, collecting four saves and giving up two goals.
- NSU competes at CSP on Friday before taking on WSU on Sunday.
