The NSIC's all-time leading passer joined the coaching staff in 2017 after rewriting the school and conference record books during his on-field career from 2013-16.
Nelson graduated as the Warriors' and NSIC's all-time leading passer (12,007 yards). His 102 career touchdown passes are also a WSU record as he became the league's first-ever quarterback to throw for over 100 TDs. Nelson also owns Winona State records for single-season yardage (3,419) and completions (256), and career completions (856), among his other accolades. He was a two-time All-NSIC recipient for his efforts and named the 2013 NSIC Newcomer of the Year as a freshman.Â
