Ryan Markgraf is in his second season as an assistant coach after spending the last four years as a graduate and student assistant at Winona State. Markgraf will work with the Warriors’ fullbacks and tight ends after spending the last four years working with the offensive line.
Tight end Alex Jensen was an all-conference selection after making 25 catches for 343 yards and four scores. Markgraf also worked with freshman fullback Zach Olstad, helping turn the former linebacker into an offensive weapon in fall camp. Olstad eneded the season with 12 catches for 108 yards.
Markgraf helped tutor an offensive line that opened holes for Rayon Simmons to record 1,000 rushing yards in three consecutive seasons (2010-12). Markgraf also helped lead 12 offensive linemen to all-NISC honors, including first-team honorees Jason Enos and Richard Lilla, during his seasons working with the line.
Markgraf played two years of football for Winona State, helping the team win the 2007 NSIC Championship. He also spent two years at Harper College, competing in both football and track and field. At Harper, Markgraf finished third nationally in the shot put in 2006.
He holds a degree in Physical Education with minors in Special Education and Coaching from Winona State. Markgraf is pursuing a graduate degree in Educational Leadership from Winona State.
