Trevor Olson joined the Winona State football coaching staff in February, 2022.
Olson comes to Winona State from Southern Illinois University - Carbondale, where he served for four seasons. While with the Salukis, Olson helped produce four All-Conference selections and an Academic All-American on the offensive line. Part of Olson's duties at SIU included the PAT and field goal units as well as recruiting in northwest Illinois and Iowa.
Prior to being a part of the SIU program, Olson was on staff at the University of Minnesota, where he served under head coach Jerry Kill. Olson was a fixture with the Gopher program coaching staff between 2013 until January of 2016. While at UM over that time, Olson recruited North Dakota, South Dakota, and Iowa.
Olson played a major part in a SIU offensive line that produced two 1,000-yard rushers in 2019. That year, the Salukis were ranked 12th in the nation in rushing yardage.
As a student-athlete, Olson lined up as an offensive tackle for Kill at Northern Illinois University. His NIU career was highlighted by starting an NCAA-record 54 games during his time in in DeKalb, Ill. Olson was twice named a consensus All-MAC pick and received national recognition on preseason Outland Trophy and Rotary Lombardi Award watch lists. In 2011, Olson was named a fourth-team All-American in 2011.
Originally from Richfield, Minn., Olson earned his bachelor's degree in History from Northern Illinois in 2011 and his master's degree in Sport Management and Kinesiology from the University of Minnesota in 2015.
