MOORHEAD, Minn. –
Madalyn Jansen scored her first career goal at an opportune time, netting the game winner in overtime for the No. 22 Winona State soccer team in a 1-0 win over MSU Moorhead Saturday afternoon.
Usually known for her outstanding defense, the junior defender from Appleton, Wis. made the most of an offensive chance by taking a free kick and finding the back of the net less than three minutes into extra time.
Despite the Warriors dominating the stat sheet throughout the game, it took more than 90 minutes for the Warriors to finally take down the Dragons. Â In the first half, WSU accounted for 12 shots, with half of them reaching their target. Â MSUM, meanwhile, had just three shots in the first 45 minutes with only one landing on goal. Â For the game, WSU outshot the Dragons 25-9 with an 11-2 advantage in shots on goal.
That theme would continue in the second half, as the Warriors took 12 more shots while the Dragons took just six – again with just one reaching goalkeeper
Rachel Oleson, who recorded her seventh shutout.
Taylor Zehren got off four shots in the first half and finished with a match-high seven in the game with three on goal. Â

The win marks the Warriors' fifth-straight victory and 10th on the season.
