BEMIDJI, Minn. – The No. 18 Winona State soccer team ran into a pesky Bemidji State team Friday night, bringing the Warriors' eight-game winning streak to an end with a 1-0 loss to the Beavers. Â
The Beavers struck in the 21st minute when Sarah Braum scored her 11th goal of the season thanks to a friendly bounce off the right post and into the net for a 1-0 lead and the only scoring for either team.
The Warrior offense struggled against a stingy BSU defense in the first half, managing just three shots – two on goal – in the first 45 minutes of play. WSU turned up the pressure significantly in the second half to eventually draw even with the Beavers with 11 shots apiece in the match.  The Warriors put four shots on goal, while six of the Beavers' shots reached their target.
Freshman
Darian Molter posted four shots for the Warriors – the most from either team – while Molter,
Hannah Burt,
Nicole Sames and
Kati Baker each put a shot on goal.
Winona State (13-2, 10-2 NSIC) has a day off before heading to Minnesota Crookston for a noon matchup Sunday with the Golden Eagles.
