LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Winona State women's cross country was no stranger to running through poor weather conditions the entire season, and it was no different at the 2014 NCAA Division II Women's Cross Country Championship in Louisville on Saturday.
WSU finished 17th out of the 32 teams in the muddy meet, closing out yet another strong season for the team with their third straight appearance in the National Championship.
Senior Jordan Skelly paced the Warriors to a 59th place finish with a time of 22:28.7, closing out a stellar Warrior career. Skelly led Winona State all season, with a 10th place finish at the NSIC Championship and a 17th place finish in the NCAA Division II Central Region Championship.
Junior Jordan Paschke was the next Winona State runner to cross the finish line, as she took home a 74th place finish with a time of 22:40.2, just beating out Hillsdale's Kathryn Royer by 0.3 seconds.
Senior Chelsea Schrubbe ended her Winona State career after crossing the finish line at the 22:58.7 mark, finishing 111th out of the 249 runners in the meet.
Closing out the race for the Warriors were sophomore Kate Simonet with a 137th place finish, freshman McKenzie Carper finished her first national championship in 149th, sophomore Amanda Kaiser came away with 161st, and freshman Korina Gomez closed out her season in 215th place.
With Winona State only graduating three seniors, the Warriors will have a lot to look forward to next season, as they will try for their fourth consecutive NCAA National Championship appearance.
