ANCHORAGE – The Winona State gymnastics team opened its season with strong showings from Brooke Hiestand, Danielle Thenell and Jade Donaldson in a 191.550-178.450 loss to Alaska Anchorage Thursday night in the Alaska Airlines Center in Anchorage.

Hiestand posted the Warriors' best score of the night, a 9.5 on the vault. The score was just .550 off her career high score for the event. Junior Jade Donaldson was right behind her, recording a 9.425 on the vault.

Thenell recorded a team-best 9.45 on bars. Donaldson also posted a career-best 9.400 on the bars, topping her previous best of 9.200 which she set at the 2014 NCGA Championship.

The Warriors will get a rematch with Alaska Anchorage at 5 p.m. (CST) Saturday inside the Alaska Airlines Center.
