No. 25 Warriors Sweep Minot State 3-0

MINOT, N.D. – The No. 25 Winona State volleyball team had little trouble defeating Minot State in straight sets (25-12, 25-19, 25-22) Friday night at the Minot State Dome.

Danielle Rampart led the Warriors with a match-high 13 kills and 12 digs while hitting a strong .345 to earn her fourth straight double-double and seventh of the season.

Lauren Kudronowicz was the second Warrior to rack up double-digit kills, finishing with 11 while hitting .308 and also tallying five blocks.

As a team, the Warriors hit .296 for the match while holding Minot State to just a .150 hitting percentage.

The hot play started right away, when WSU hit .355 in the opening set while the Beavers managed just .079. The Warriors went on a 5-0 run to take a 7-3 lead and later an 8-0 run to storm out to a 19-8 lead to cruise to the 25-12 win.

WSU jumped out to a 9-4 lead in the second set and later a 17-12 advantage after a kill from Wrage, but a 4-0 Beaver run cut it to 17-16. The Warriors would never trail in the set, however, pulling away for a 25-19 win.

The third and final set presented the Warriors' toughest challenge, as Minot held a 12-10 lead near the midpoint of the match, but WSU immediately countered with six straight points to take a 16-12 lead. Minot State would get to within two points on four different occasions but WSU would not relinquish the lead as it fished off the match with a 25-22 third set win.

Freshman Maria Wrage picked up eight kills and hit .278, and McKenna Larsen added seven kills while hitting .294 and dishing out 32 assists.

Junior Jamie Cairncross led the Warriors with a match-best 18 digs.

No. 25 Winona State (10-7, 4-6 NSIC) returns to action Saturday at 6 p.m. when it travels to the University of Mary in Bismarck, N.D.
