Bolton Leads Warriors In 1-0 NSIC Quarterfinal Win Over SCSU

WINONA, Minn. – Senior Mehan Bolton scored the lone goal to lift the Winona State soccer team to a 1-0 victory over St. Cloud State in the quarterfinals of the NSIC Women's Soccer Tournament at Altra Federal Credit Union Stadium in Winona.

The Huskies opened the game aggressively to put WSU on its heels early, outshooting the Warriors 8-3 in the first half. But the Warriors made one count, as Chase Rehm and Nicole Sames found Mehan Bolton who buried her third goal of the season to move ahead 1-0 in the 19th minute and provide the only scoring in the game.

The story was much different in the second half as WSU took control offensively and the defense tightened up with a 16-3 shot differential. WSU finished with nine shots on goal, while the Huskies managed five. WSU also had an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks

Bolton led the Warriors with a game-high six shots with three on goal, while Abby Bohanski and Meg Riebau each had four shots with two landing on goal.

Rachel Oleson successfully stopped all five shots to earn her 11th shutout of the season.
