No. 22 Warriors Fall To No. 22 Augustana, 3-0

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – In a battle of No. 22-ranked teams, the Winona State volleyball team fell in straight sets to Augustana Saturday evening at the Elmen Center in Sioux Falls.

The Warriors and Vikings would find themselves in a marathon first set. After Augie opened up a 17-11 advantage, the Warriors came storming back with an 8-3 run capped off by back-to-back kills from Danielle Rampart to cut the deficit to just one point at 20-19. The Warriors would take leads of 22-21 and 23-22. The Warriors would go onto take the lead on six different occasions in the set, but couldn't close it out and, after the Vikings survived four set points, finally broke free and claimed the opener 33-31.

The Warriors hit .278 in each of the first two sets, but Augie won the second set 25-20 and WSU hit just .171 in the third set in a 25-18 Augie win to complete the sweep.

Rampart led the Warriors with a match-high 15 kills and hit .275, while Taylor Goar and Lauren Kudronowicz each had eight kills. Maria Wrage tallied seven kills while hitting .375.

McKenna Larsen recorded her seventh double-double of the season with a 31 assist, 13 dig effort.

Winona State (7-5, 1-4 NSIC) will spend the next two weekends at home with a four-game homestand, beginning next Friday with a 7 p.m. matchup against Sioux Falls before a 2 p.m. date with No. 3 Southwest Minnesota State on Saturday.
