NORMAL, Ill. – Eboni Jackson tied the school vault record and the Winona State gymnastics team reached its highest score of the season in a 192.275-186.825 loss at Division I Illinois State Friday night in Normal, Illinois. WSU's score marked the 10th best team score in the program's history.
The Warriors posted an outstanding vault, shattering the program record with a 47.800. The previous best score of 47.475 was set last season against UW-Stout. Jackson closed out the stellar rotation with a 9.725, which ties Kassy Kroening's score in 1998 for the top vault in program history. Jade Donaldson added a 9.625, Brooke Hiestand scored a 9.550, Emily Goldeman had a 9.500 white Natalie Koehler earned a 9.400.
Jackson also led the Warriors with an outstanding effort on the balance beam, scoring a 9.675 while Katie Carling recorded a 9.575 and Miranda Saathoff had a 9.450.
Katie Pipp scored a 9.625 and Carling added a 9.500 to lead the Warriors on the uneven bars.
Hiestand led WSU on the floor exercise with a 9.625, with Carling earning a 9.550 and Veronica Peterson scoring a 9.425.
The Warriors return home for their final home competition of the year Friday hosting Hamline University at 6:30 p.m. in McCown Gym.
