MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Winona State baseball team dropped a 10-2 decision at Florida Tech Tuesday afternoon at Seminick-Hall Field in Melbourne, Fla.
The Warriors fell behind 6-0 after five innings before Mitch Voter singled home Tyler Nehring in the sixth and Ryan Nyhagen hit an RBI single in the seventh to cut the deficit to 6-2. But FIU responded with a run in the seventh and three more in the eighth to stretch the lead to the 10-2 final.
Nathan Krause recorded WSU's lone multi-hit game with a 2-for-4 day at the plate.
Josh Nielsen (0-2) took the mound for the Warriors, pitching 4 1/3 innings, giving up nine hits and five earned runs.
Winona State (2-8) plays the fourth of six games in Florida Wednesday with a noon (CST) first pitch against Florida Southern in Lakeland, Fla.
