WINONA, Minn. - The #13 Winona State women's soccer team traveled to Fayette, Iowa to face Upper Iowa (2-1, 1-0 NSIC) in their first NSIC match up of the season. In the wet afternoon rain, the Warriors (2-1, 0-1 NSIC) fell to the Peacocks 2-0.

The match would prove to be an uphill battle as the Peacocks opened up the game with a goal, just 30 seconds in from Birgit Rijnders.

The Warriors were under pressure from the Peacocks and the ball stayed on their side of the field the majority of the match.

The Warriors would began to build up some pressure of their own in the latter minutes of the first half creating opportunities, but they were not able to capitalize.

Off of a rebound, Peacock Brianne Fenton was able to find the back of the net for the second time in the 35
th minute.

The Peacocks were able to sustain their pressure into the second half.

Freshman
Macy Miller would take a shot that would hit the top left corner of the crossbar in the 77
th minute.

The Warriors would show some more offensive aggression as the match started to inch closer to the ninety minute mark but to no avail.

The Warriors were able to put up 21 shots with seven shots on goal, but could not find the net. The Peacocks took 12 shots with seven on goal as well, including the two scores.

Redshirt freshman keeper
Jourdan Valkner saw her first minutes of action as a Warrior on the afternoon. Valkner played the second half of the match and made two stops in her debut.

The Warriors will host Ferris State for their home opener on Sunday at 12p.m. at Altra Federal Credit Union Stadium.
