SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The University of Sioux Falls scored three unanswered goals in the second half of a 3-1 victory over Winona State University on Friday night.
Darian Molter scored her third goal of the season at the 20-minute mark of the first half, but that was the only offense WSU could muster in the conference game.
The Warriors owned a 10-2 shot advantage in the first half of action, and finished with a 17-11 edge but the visiting team only found the back of the net once. Sioux Falls put six of its 11 shots on goal while WSU put nine of its 17 on target.
The Cougars tied the game at 1-1 shortly after halftime and proceeded to take a 2-1 lead just two minutes later. USF tacked on its final goal at the 74-minute mark.
Rachel Oleson recorded three saves in the loss, allowing three goals.
Winona State falls to 5-5-1 (4-3-1 NSIC) with the loss and Sioux Falls improves to 4-5-2 (3-3-2 NSIC).
The Warriors return to action on home Sunday afternoon. WSU hosts Southwest Minnesota State University at 1 p.m. in a conference match at Altra Federal Credit Union Stadium.
