Warrior seniors lead sweep of U-Mary

WINONA, Minn. – No. 15 Winona State University matched a season-high five match winning streak Saturday afternoon with a straight-set victory over U-Mary in McCown Gymnasium on Senior Day.

The Warriors' 14th sweep of the year came by set scores of 25-14, 25-15, 25-16.

Winona owned a .400 attacking percentage in the match a day after recording a season-best .595 clip.

Playing in her final regular season home match, Danielle Rampart led all players with 13 kills. Fellow senior Lauren Kudronowicz tallied a season-high six block assists.

WSU recorded seven total blocks in the match. Senior McKenna Larsen aided that by matching a career-best four block assists. Larsen also stuffed the stat sheet with 30 set assists, seven digs and five kills.

Winona led wire-to-wire in set one, and only trailed by a single point once in the second set. The Marauders gave the Warriors a run, however, in the third set.

A 4-1 Mary start in the final game was snuffed out by a five-point run by Winona capped on a kill by Kudronowicz. The teams traded leads up to the hallway point of the set until back-to-back kills by Kate Masberg put the Warriors on top for good at 14-13.

The Warriors went on to close out the sweep on a 13-3 run with Alexis Bass dropping in a match-winning ace.

Winona State improves to 19-7 (13-5 NSIC) while U-Mary drops to 8-19 (4-14 NSIC).

The Warriors conclude their regular season with a pair of road matches next weekend, beginning at Minnesota Moorhead Friday, November 10 at 6 p.m.
