Three-point barrage sparks Winona State in blowout of Waldorf

WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State University men's basketball team knocked a season-best 15 three-pointers in an 88-60 triumph over Waldorf University on Tuesday night in McCown Gymnasium.

Mason Domask headed a host of five Warriors with 17 points on 5-of-6 shooting from long range. Caleb Wagner scored 16 points and dished out a career-high 11 assists for his first career double-double.

Winona State led wire-to-wire, and owned a double-digit advantage from the 13:59 mark of the first half until the conclusion of the contest. Domask connected from beyond the arc four times in the opening six minutes of play and was assisted by Wagner on each basket.

Domask scored 14 points in the first half while Wagner totaled six of his assists to send the Warriors into the locker room with a 45-22 lead.

Tommy Gathje paced the home team with 12 points in the second half, finishing the game with 16.

Kevion Taylor came up one rebound short of a double-double with 12 points and nine boards. Charlie Koontz chipped in 12 points off the bench.

The Warriors' 21 assists were a season high as Winona has averaged 19.5 assists over the past two games. Winona's fluid ball moment has aided the Warriors in shooting over 50 percent in each of the last two contests.

Wagner is averaging 19 points and 9.5 rebounds over the last two games since being inserted in the starting lineup while Domask has averaging nearly 15 points over his last six games.

Head coach Todd Eisner notched his 450th career win as Winona State improves to 6-4 on the year.

The Warriors resume conference play at home on Saturday against Upper Iowa University. Tipoff is slated for 6 p.m.
