ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Winona State gymnastics team scored a 184.575 to take first place in their dual meet with Hamline University on Tuesday night. The Warriors were led by a top three sweep of the balance beam that included Sunny Hasebe,
Eboni Jackson and
Kelly Johnston.
With
Kennedy Utz and
Eboni Jackson leading the way with second and third place finishes in the vault, the Warriors were able to post a team score of 46.125 just behind the Pipers' 46.650.
Led by another two-three-punch from
Katie Carling and
Emily Woitchek, the Warriors were able to win the bars with a team score of 45.200, opposed to the Pipers' 44.950.
The strong Hasebe, Jackson and Johnston trio that topped the beam results, powered the Warriors to a 46.425 team total for the event, putting them a solid 1.85 points ahead of the Pipers' at a 44.575.
Eboni Jackson was the top finisher for the Warriors as she placed second on the floor. The team posted a 46.825 total behind the Pipers' 46.975. Jackson posted a 37.175 all around score.
The Warriors will compete Sunday at the Best of Minnesota Meet hosted by the University of Minnesota. The meet will feature Winona State, the University of Minnesota, Gustavus and Hamline. The meet will start at 2 p.m.
