WINONA, Minn. - The Warriors are hosting the University of Wisconsin La Crosse Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. in McCown gym. Wisconsin La Crosse is coming off of a 191.675 performance that topped UW Whitewater last week.
LAST TIME OUT: The Winona State gymnastics team scored a 184.575 to win their dual meet with Hamline University on Tuesday night. The Warriors were led by a top three sweep of the balance beam that included Sunny Hasebe, Eboni Jackson and Kelly Johnston.
The Winona State gymnastics team competed in the Best of Minnesota meet, featuring the University of Minnesota, Gustavus and Hamline university. The Warriors finished with a 188.025 to finish second overall and better than the other Division III schools by 2.375 points.
The Warriors turned out a WSU top ten finish in the team total, as well as a top ten finish on the bars with a 46.9250.
As far as individual finishers, the Minnesota Gophers topped all events, although the Warriors had gymnasts peppered within the top five finishers on events.
Eboni Jackson led the way with a 9.650 on the vault to tie for 3rd place. Haruko "Sunny" Hasebe landed in a tie for 7th place on the bars with a 9.500 mark. Natalie Koehler place 5th on the balance beam with a 9.600 performance and right behind her, in 6th place, Kelly Johnston with a 9.575.
SHAKING THE BOOKS: So far this season the Warriors have already made their mark in the record books. The team has had a top ten performances in the vault, bars, beam and team total.
Last weekend the Warriors turned out a WSU top ten finish in the team total, as well as a top ten finish on the bars with a 46.9250.
LOOKING AHEAD: The Warriors will travel to Eau Claire to take on UW Eau Claire on March 10th, before coming back to host the WIAC Meet as well as the NCGA West Regional on March 17th. The March 17th meet serves as both the conference and the regional meet for the West Region of the NCGA DIII.
