EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The Winona State gymnastics team won two events, using those wins to hang on and beat the Blugolds of Wisconsin-Eau Claire 185.200-184.875 on Friday night.
As a team the Warriors won the bars and beam events and tied the vault scores with Eau Claire at 46.250. Winona State's 46.125 score on the bars bested Eau Claire's 45.075 as did their 46.425 on the beam opposed to Eau Claire's 45.975.
Taylor Lewis started the night out by taking the top spot on the vault with a 9.525, one tenth behind her was
Megan Tran, who tied for second with a 9.425.
Katie Pipp had a second place finish with a 9.350, followed by a tie for third place between teammates
Katie Carling and
Eboni Jackson with a 9.325
Kelly Johnston and Haruko Hasebe landed the top two spots on the beam, Johnston with a 9.550 for first and Hasebe with a 9.475 for second.
Alyssa Carroll was the top Winona State finisher in the floor exercise, finishing third with a score of 9.525.
Megan Tran landed in fourth place with a 9.450.
Winona State will be back in action next weekend as they will host the WIAC Championship/NCGA West Regionals in McCown gym on March 17th. The Meet is set to begin at 5:30 p.m.
