CROOKSTON, Minn. – Junior
Abby Bohanski and sophomore
Courtney Wiencek both netted goals in a 2-1 Winona State (2-2-1, 1-0-1 NSIC) victory at the University of Minnesota Crookston (0-4-0, 0-2-0 NSIC) Saturday afternoon.
Bohanski opened the scoring for the Warriors early in the first half. She beat Golden Eagles' goalkeeper Olivia Puttin in the 11th minute off an assist by
Darian Molter.
Aside from the early WSU goal, there weren't many shots on target as the two teams combined for just seven total attempts in the first half.
The second half was a different story as Winona State came out on the offensive the final 45 minutes of play. WSU had 13 shots in the second frame, one of which found the back of the net off the foot of Wiencek at the 70:28 mark. Her goal would prove to be the game winner.
Crookston's Jessica Withrow scored late for the Golden Eagles, but Winona State would hold on to the lead the rest of the match.
Rachel Oleson picked up her second win of the season. She faced seven total shots on goal total shots and recorded six saves.
Winona State (2-2-1, 1-0-1 NSIC) continues their first road trip of the season traveling to Bemidji State (4-0, 2-0 NSIC) on Sunday for a 1 p.m. matchup.
