WINONA, Minn. – Less than 24 hours removed from a disappointing loss on their home court, No. 9 Winona State University made short work of Minnesota State University-Moorhead in a straight set sweep on Saturday afternoon at McCown Gymnasium.
The Warriors dispatched of the Dragons by scores of 25-18, 25-17, 25-19.
Maria Wrage produced her most efficient match of the season with a .722 attacking percentage in the sweep for WSU and floored six kills in the opening set.
Senior Lauren Kudronowicz shined in the second set, drilling six of her 12 kills in the match.
While the offense continued to click in the second game, the Warrior defense dispatched its best effort of the afternoon with three blocks and 22 digs in the set.
WSU scored 24 of its 25 points on kills in the third set and needed just 40 swings (.475%) to accomplish the task en route to the sweep.
Rampart's .423 hitting percentage was her third-highest on the year, contributing to Winona's .378 percentage on the day.
McKenna Larsen recorded another solid all-around outing with 43 assists, 12 digs, seven kills and a service ace.
Kudronowicz and Maria Fruechte recorded three blocks apiece.
With its first home win of the season, Winona State improves to 9-4 (3-2 NSIC) and sends MSUM to a record of 7-6 (2-3 NSIC).
The Warriors begin a stretch of four straight road matches next Friday at the University of Mary at 6 p.m.
