WINONA, Minn. – Winona State University gymnastics earned a 185.875-181.4 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh on Friday night in McCown Gymnasium. Eboni Jackson won the all-around competition for the second time this season.
Friday's event was the Warriors' "Smile On" meet, dedicated to their former teammate Brook Baures, who tragically passed away in 2014.
Jackson won the all-around competition with a score of 36.85, besting Oshkosh's two all-around gymnasts. The junior won the balance beam (9.55) and floor exercise (9.775). Jackson set a new season-high score on floor and in bars (9.375) in which she placed second.
Katie Pipp won the uneven parallel bars with a season best score of 9.5. Anna Hiller also set a new season high while placing fourth (9.3) Katie Carling placed fifth with a score of 9.2.
Winona swept the top three places on balance beam with Jackson, Kelly Johnston (9.5) and Miranda Saathoff (9.3). Carling also placed fifth on beam with a score of 9.175.
On vault, Alana Currin had the Warriors' top mark with a score of 9.325 for third place. Hiller (9.3), Kennedy Utz (9.3) and Leah Messelt (9.275) followed in the finishing order.
Ashley Wright finished second, behind Jackson, on floor with a season-high mark of 9.475. Currin and Utz tied for fourth place while also setting new high scores of the season (9.375).
The Warriors are back in action on Senior Day next Friday in McCown Gymnasium. Winona hosts Hamline and UW-Whitewater in a tri meet scheduled for begin at 6 p.m.
