ORLANDO, Fla. – Winona State University began a four-match trip in Florida on Sunday night with a 6-3 win over Seton Hill University. The Warriors (7-0) have won seven straight matches in the spring season.
Winona State evened the team score after an 8-1 win at doubles #2 by Kendra Kappes and Rachel Gantz. The duo improved to 7-0 in the spring with their victory. The Warriors went into singles action with a 2-1 team lead after a Seton Hill forfeit at doubles #3.
Tayla Card was the first to finish at singles #5 with a flawless 6-0, 6-0 win. With another default by Seton Hill at singles #6, Kappes clinched Winona's team win with a 6-1, 6-0 triumph at singles #3.
Kali Hackmann (7-0) also remained undefeated in singles play with a 6-1, 6-3 win of her own.
The Warriors return to the court on Monday afternoon for a match against the University of the Sciences.
