WINONA, Minn. – Winona State University head women's basketball coach Scott Ballard has announced the signing of sophomore transfer Katie Sowa from the University of Indianapolis.
"We are excited and fortune to add Katie to our roster this late in the summer," Ballard said. "She had a great freshman season at Indianapolis, and is someone we were familiar with two years ago during her initial recruiting process. Katie is a high character individual, and a great student academically that will fit well into our culture, style of play and team personality. We expect her to give us quality depth and a scoring punch at multiple positions."
Sowa is a 5-11 guard/forward from Cary, Illinois where she attended Cary-Grove High School prior to her freshman campaign at Indianapolis in 2018-19. Last season at Indy, she played in all 28 games and ranked seventh in the Great Lakes Valley Conference in three-point shooting (40.9%). Sowa went 52-for-127 from downtown as a freshman. She averaged 7.1 points per game and scored a season-best 25 points.
