EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – Coming off a narrow loss in its first meet of the 2020 season earlier this month, the Winona State University women's gymnastics team bounced back with a 177.650-176.350 victory against UW-Eau Claire on Tuesday night in WIAC competition.
Hailey Bryant (vault) and Shelsea Zehr (floor exercise) each won their induvial events for the Warriors.
Bryant posted season high scores in both her victorious vault effort (9.25) and third-place finish on the uneven parallel bars (8.975). Winona State's Anna Hiller placed second on the bars with a season-best score of 9.1.
Zehr notched her second first-place finish in as many meets, topping her previous performance at Gustavus (9.475) with a mark of 9.5 on Tuesday. Kennedy Utz (9.275) was right behind her teammate for second place with a season high score on the floor as well. Utz, a senior, tied with freshman Allison Crescimanno on the vault with matching scores of 9.2 for second place.
Fellow senior Kelly Johnston recorded Winona State's top mark on the balance beam with a second-place score of 8.825.
The Warriors return to action later this week with a home meet against UW-Stout. Competition is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. on Friday inside McCown Gymnasium.
