WINONA, Minn. – Winona State University saw its team score improve for the third straight meet on Thursday night inside McCown Gymnasium as the Warriors recorded a score of 184.275, which is a new season best, but wasn't enough to keep up with the top team in the WIAC as UW-Oshkosh won the meet with a score of 188.55.
The Warriors' collective score of 46.6 on the floor exercise was also a new season high. Shelsea Zehr placed second individually to lead Winona State with a career-best score of 9.6. Kelly Johnston (9.325), Hailey Bryant (9.3) and Alana Currin (9.125) also turned in new season highs on the floor.
Johnston once again led Winona State on the balance beam with a third-place score of 9.5. The All-American has recorded a 9.5 or better in three of the Warriors' four meets this year. Megan Tran (9.175) and Cora Geiger (9.150) registered new season highs in the event.
Zehr's strong night continued on the uneven parallel bars where she tied for third with freshman teammate Maddy Bronson with scores of 9.3.
On vault, Maya Fernando (9.375), Utz (9.35) and Allison Crescimanno (9.275) were the Warriors' top finishers as each posted new season highs in the event.
The Warriors will travel to Shreveport, Louisiana for their next meet on February 9 at Centenary College.
