The Winona State baseball team faced off against the Seton Hill Griffiths early Friday morning and fell by a score of 8-6.
With the loss the Warriors fall to 6-6 on the year while the Griffiths improve to 9-3.
The Warriors started out strong, opening the game with an RBI from
Sam Kohnle to score Zac Strange in the top of the first.
Winona State attempted to break the game open in the top of the fourth, scoring four runs off RBI's from
Derek Baumgartner,
Andrew Pliner, and Zac Strange to go up 5-1.
Seton Hill wouldn't quit as they scored six runs over the next three innings to take a 7-5 lead going into the seventh.
Strange scored Pliner on an RBI single in the seventh to cut the Griffiths lead to 7-6.
The Warriors failed to record a hit over the final two innings while Seton Hill added an insurance run in the eighth to take the game 8-6.
Strange went 2-for-3 in the game with two RBI's to give him a team leading 12 on the season.
Dillon Whittaker struck out four in five innings of work while
Bailey Banaszynski would pick up the loss.
The Warriors will look to push their record above .500 tomorrow as they take on the Wayne State (MI) Warriors at 12 p.m.
