WINONA, Minn. – The #10 Winona State University volleyball team hosts #7 Concordia-St. Paul in a top-10 battle today at 1pm in McCown Gymnasium, home of WNB Financial Court.
The Warriors (20-3, 11-3 NSIC) are coming off a 3-1 victory over Upper Iowa on Thursday evening and the Golden Bears (19-4, 13-1 NSIC) defeated Minnesota State 3-0 on Thursday as well.
WSU and CSP last squared off on Oct. 5 in a nonconference match; the Warriors went to CSP's home floor and came away with a 3-1 (25-22, 22-25, 25-20, 25-18) victory.
Concordia-St. Paul currently sits atop the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) with a 13-1 conference record, two games ahead of Winona State. The Golden Bears are led offensively by Jasmine Mulvihill who is averaging 3.6 kills per set, and Ellie Veldman who averages 8.79 assists per set. Their libero, Tori Hanson, is averaging 4.68 digs per set.
The Warriors are led offensively by
Megan Flom, who is averaging 3.94 kills per set at a hitting percentage of .427, both good for top-five in the NSIC.
Bre Maloney's 11.22 assists per set have her at second in the NSIC individual standings. Defensively,
Becca Pagel leads the Warriors and the NSIC with 5.12 digs per set.
A win today would be Winona State's second win over Concordia-St. Paul this season and would be crucial in both NSIC and NCAA standings.
