Winona State announces additional football candidate forum information

WINONA, Minn. -   Winona State University Athletic Director, Eric Schoh, announced today additional information regarding a football head coach search finalist who will visit campus to interview for the vacant head football coach position.

Pete Sterbick will be on campus Wednesday, December 15 and the public is invited to an open session in the Science Lab at 11:00 a.m. in the Science Laboratory Center (SL) 120.  Sterbick is currently the offensive coordinator at the Colorado School of Mines. Sterbick has been on staff with the CSM  program for two seasons and is a part of a staff that has led the Orediggers to the NCAA Division II Championship semifinals.  Prior to his role at the Colorado School of Mines, Sterbick served at Montana Tech as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach between 2014 and 2018.  During that time, Sterbick guided an offense that broke over 30 program records between 2015-2018. In addition, Sterbick coordinated the Montana Tech recruiting efforts in several geographic areas, including community colleges in California, and high school programs in Montana and western Washington state.  He has prior coaching experience at McPherson College, Grand View University, Washington State University, and the University of North Dakota.

Sterbick graduated from Augustana University in Sioux Falls with a bachelor's degree in physical education, where he competed for the Vikings as a wide receiver and punter between 1998-2002. He has earned his master's degree in higher education administration from Washington State University.

The 2021 Winona State football team finished 7-4 overall, winning four of the last five games.  Longtime Warriors head coach Tom Sawyer retired after 25 years at the helm, earning a 197-89 overall record and leading Winona State to ten post-season appearances.
