Winona, Minn. - Because of predicted poor weather on Wednesday, the Winona State University baseball doubleheader against the St. Cloud State Huskies has been moved to Tuesday, April 6, with a first pitch scheduled for 1pm.
The Warriors (9-9 overall / 6-7 NSIC) will travel to SCSU and Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud, as the two programs match up for the first time since May 21, 2019, when the Huskies beat Winona State 17-6 and 2-0 in a NSIC baseball doubleheader played in Mauston, Wis.
Tomorrow, Winona State will look to return to the form that saw them sweep both Bemidji State on March 24 and the University of Minnesota Duluth on March 27-28, accounting for five of the Warriors' six NSIC wins earlier this season.
St. Cloud State is 7-7 overall and 5-4 in NSIC action. Last weekend, the Huskies went 1-2 against nationally-ranked Minnesota State-Mankato, earning a 12-8 win sandwiched between 7-5 and 3-2 losses to the Mavericks.
WSU is looking to hit the brakes on a three-game skid, as the Warriors went 0-for-3 against Northern State in a NSIC weekend on April 2-3.

Most recently and notably:
Winona State is 1-4 in their last five contests, splitting with the University of Mary on March 30, prior to their aforementioned trip to Aberdeen. Notably, the Warriors saw senior infielder
Sam Kohnle achieve his 200th hit at Winona State when he singled in the first inning of a 6-1 setback to the Wolves.
St. Cloud State is 2-2 in their last four games, which include a single eight-inning affair against Concordia, St. Paul in which they won 13-1, as well as their 1-2 series score against MSU-Mankato. SCSU has played on the road in all but three of their games so far in 2021.
On the mound:
For Winona State, three pitchers have tossed complete games so far in 2021;
Austin Savary, Bailey Banasynski and
Cameron Kramer each have gone the distance once this season. Banaszynski has two wins to his credit to lead the Warriors, while
Nicolas Herold has a pair of saves in relief. Herold and
Justin Firpo both have made eight appearances for head coach
Kyle Poock.
The Huskies are led in wins by Jack Habeck, with is 3-0 in five appearances. Tommy Thompson is 2-0, while Mack Larson has the only SCSU save so far this year.
Offensively:
Not surprisingly, the newest member of the 200-hit club,

Extra innings:
Winona State has three players who have reached double-digits in walks this year, with
Sam Kohnle (12),
Derek Baumgartner (11) and
Nathan Loomis (11) showing patience at the plate. Combined, the trio have scored 37 times.
The Huskies have combined to hit 27 home runs this year, nearly double the amount their pitching staff have given up to opposition hitters (15).
