BURNSVILLE, Minn. — The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference announced that 943 student-athletes have earned NSIC All-Academic honors for the 2021 spring athletic season; 577 student-athletes were named to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence, while 366 earned NSIC All-Academic Team honors.
Winona State University is represented by 75 student-athletes on the 2021 Spring All-Academic Team, including 43 named to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence.
To be eligible for the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence, a student-athlete must have a 3.60 cumulative GPA or higher, while NSIC All-Academic Team members must have a 3.20 cumulative GPA or higher.
Additionally, the student-athlete must be a member of the varsity traveling team, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at her/his institution (true freshmen, red-shirt freshmen and ineligible athletic transfers are not eligible) and must have completed at least one full academic year at that institution.
Included in the NSIC Team of Excellence list are three NSIC Elite 18 Award winners;
Mya Lubben (women's tennis),
Jessica Smith (women's golf) and
Liz Pautz (softball). Each Warrior was tabbed at their respective NSIC championship events for having earned the highest GPA of all participants at the event. Winona State was the only NSIC institution to have three NSIC Elite 18 Award winners in 2020-21; four other NSIC schools had two each.
The 75 Warriors to earn NSIC All-Academic honors is an increase from a total of 62 in the spring of 2020.
