Game Recap: Women's Volleyball | | Pete Watkins

#11 Warrior volleyball completes sweep, moves to 12-1 on year

MINOT, N.D. - The #11 Winona State University women's volleyball team wasted little time in making light work of Minot State on Saturday, defeating the Beavers 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-16) to complete their 2-0 road trip through North Dakota.

Combined with the 3-0 (25-15, 25-10, 25-14) Warrior win on Friday over UMary, Winona State dismantled both NSIC foes with ease, as several WSU standouts continued stellar seasons.

Against Minot State, Megan Flom matched her second-best season effort in kills, racking up 17 while Madison Rizner and Lydia Lange had five each. Flom also hit 17 kills against Minnesota State - Moorhead on Sept. 18 while her season high 23 came against the University of Indianapolis on Sept. 11.

Madison Larson, Caleigh Jensen and Flom combined to own the net for the Warriors, with each contributing blocks in the win. Bre Maloney had 25 assists, while Kami Knutsen added nine. Becca Pagel had 11 digs for WSU and Casey Volkmann and Flom had six apiece.

As a team, Winona State hit .363 for the match, including an impressive .485 in the opening set. With the win over the Beavers, WSU has won seven straight against Minot State and ten of the last 11.

Around the NSIC, with some matches yet to finish on Saturday, Winona State stands as just one of two teams with a single loss on the season.  At 12-1 overall and 4-1 in NSIC play, the Warriors look ahead to a series of road matches at Minnesota Crookston, Bemidji State and Concordia - St. Paul.

WSU will face off against the UMC Golden Eagles and the BSU Beavers on Friday, Oct. 1 and Saturday, Oct. 2.  Following the two-match up north road trip, the #11 Warriors have a showdown with Concordia - St. Paul circled on their collective calendar. Currently the Golden Bears are 10-2 and ranked #6 in the AVCA weekly poll.
