BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Preseason Player of the Year
Megan Flom and the Winona State volleyball team begin their 2021 season, competing in the Ferris State Bulldog Invitational on Friday Sept. 3 and Saturday, Sept. 4. The Warriors are receiving votes in the preseason American Volleyball Coaches Association preseason NCAA Division II poll.
In Big Rapids, the Warriors will test themselves against Oklahoma Baptist University and McKendree University on Friday. OBU is ranked ninth by the AVCA. Saturday will prove to be an equally tough test, with both Hillsdale and Ferris State found in the AVCA rankings at No. 13 and receiving votes, respectively.
Veteran head coach
Joe Getzin, heading into his seventh season at Winona State has a veteran team to guide this year, with 11 of his 18 player in their junior year or older. Warrior fans should note that at the Ferris State Invitational, a nine team tournament, contests against host Ferris State will be live streamed. Scores and updates from matches against OBU, McKendree and Hillsdale College will be provided as possible.
The Ferris State Invitational will be one of two early-season tournaments on tap for the Warriors. Winona State will travel to the University of Indianapolis on Sept. 10-11.
