Becca Pagel, Megan Flom earn NSIC weekly honors

WINONA, Minn. - The honors continue to accumulate for the #14 Winona State volleyball program, coming off a 4-0 start to the season at the Ferris State Invitational on Sept. 3-4.

Seniors Becca Pagel and Megan Flom have been named the NSIC Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively, for their stellar individual efforts in each of the Warriors four matches in Big Rapids, Mich.

Pagel produced an impressive defensive display across the weekend, leading her team in all defensive categories, including tying a WSU team record for digs in a contest (48), earned against Ferris State in the Winona State fourth and final win.  Defense wins championships, and helps secure national rankings, as evidenced by the #14 AVCA week one mark Pagel and her team earned on Monday.

Flom featured prominently in the WSU attack in all four matches, and like Pagel, saved her best for last in battling the Bulldogs, racking up .467 hitting percentage and 15 kills in the match.  Earlier in the day, the Kenyon-Wanamingo standout had 16 kills against #13 Hillsdale College. Flom hit double-digit kill marks in all three matches against nationally ranked competition at the Ferris State Invitational.

Both Pagel and Flom earned spots on the 2021 Ferris State Invitational All-Tournament team as well.

Winona State (4-0, 0-0 NSIC) volleyball now turns its focus to the upcoming weekend in which the team travels to the University of Indianapolis for matches on Friday, Sept. 10, and Saturday Sept. 11.
