WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State University baseball team has announced the 2022 Warrior Baseball schedule as they look to build upon their 2021 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) post-season tournament appearance last year. A solid lineup of experienced returners and new talent will take the field for Winona State this spring as the program suits up for the 102
nd season in program history.
The Warriors will spend some significant time in the Show-Me state competing nine times in February in Missouri as well as playing six contests in Florida in early March, before opening their NSIC schedule with Northern State University on Saturday, March 19 within the cozy confines of Loughery Field.
Winona State is set to play ten straight home contests in 2022 to open conference play, before embarking on a road trip to Bismarck, N.D to face the University of Mary in their first NSIC road games. WSU will also make an April up north in-state swing to Crookston, Duluth and Bemidji for additional away contests.
Also circled on the home date calendar are back-to-back Winona showdowns with Minnesota State (April 15-16) and Augustana University (April 20) in what are likely to be key contests as the NSIC playoff race shapes up.
After road trips to Fayette, Iowa and Wayne, Neb., head coach
Kyle Poock and the Warriors will wrap up the home portion of their schedule hosting the University of Sioux Falls on May 3. The final series for Winona State will be a three-game stand at Concordia St. Paul.
The Warriors have taken the diamond every year since 1919 with the exception of the 1945 season. Coach Poock is entering his 20th season at the helm for Winona State, where he has earned a 474-406-2 overall record. Longtime assistant coach
Patrick Reilly - heading into his 12th year with WSU - and Warrior alum Andrew Geislinger round out the WSU staff as the squad prepares to take on some of the top NCAA Division II baseball teams in the upper Midwest.
