JOPLIN, Mo. – The Winona State University men's cross country team completed their season at the NCAA Division II Central Region Championships today, where they were led by
Mitchell Johnstone.
The Warriors finished in 24th place out of 31 teams, while Missouri Southern earned the Central Region team championship.
Johnstone paced the Warriors with a top-100 finish, running the 10k course in a time of 31:38.5. Johnstone jumped 35 spots during the back half of the race.
Andrew Metcalf ran across the finish line at the 32:03.6 mark.
Mitchell Buerkle was the third Warrior to cross the finish line, running the race in a time of 32:29.9.
Connor Hallaway and
Wyatt Taylor rounded out the scoring for Winona State, running to times of 32:39.7 and 32:43.5, respectively.
Brady Omtvedt finished in 33:02.4 and
Tyler Merrell crossed the line at 33:43.3 to conclude the runners for the Warriors.
Winona State finishes their season with two top-five finishes, including a runner-up finish at the Phoenix Open in September.
