OZARK, MO. – The Winona State University baseball team returns to the field today for a single nine-inning game at Drury University at U.S. Baseball Park at 3 pm.
The Warriors (0-3, 0-0 NSIC) return to the Show-Me state for a scheduled three-game series against the Panthers (4-0, 0-0 GLVC), with one game each day over Friday - Sunday, Feb. 18-20. Last spring, Winona State beat Drury 8-7 on March 6, earning their second win of the 2021 campaign, en route to a 22-20 overall mark.
Cooper Kapanke is coming off an outstanding offensive performance from the Warriors' opening weekend, including a grand slam. Winona State dropped three contests to Missouri Southern State in their first action of the year. Also performing well at the plate was
Derek Baumgartner, while on the mound Winona State saw
John Breske throw a pair of scoreless innings in two appearances.
U.S. Baseball Park is the home for Drury University baseball and located in Ozark, Missouri. U.S. Baseball Park was originally built in 1999 and home to an independent minor league baseball team and was vacant for nearly 10 years before it went through a $2 million renovation in 2015-16 that included the installation of an AstroTurf surface and a 37 foot by 48 foot LED videoboard in right field.
Drury is unbeaten in their 2022 season so far, having swept back-to-back double headers against Fort Hays State last weekend. The Panthers notched wins of 10-4 and 13-0 scorelines against FHSU on Friday, Feb. 11 and beat the Tigers 11-3 and 19-7 on Sunday, Feb. 13.
