Warrior Game Day: Women's Tennis

WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State University women's tennis team is set to host a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference matches this weekend at the Winona Tennis Center. The Warriors will take on St. Cloud State today, March 18, at 6:30pm and then Minnesota Duluth on March 19 at 4:30pm.

WSU (10-3, 5-1 NSIC) is coming off a spring break trip where they played four matches and finished 3-1 in Orlando, Fla. With just five matches left in the regular season, the Warriors are tied for second in the NSIC standings and will look to gain two more conference wins this weekend.

Winona State has shown strength in their doubles lineup this year, winning the team doubles point in 11 of their 13 matches. Beth Murman and Sara Anderson lead the way, as they are 11-0 at No. 2 doubles as a pair. Rina Niehoff and Rachel Kelly have been impressive as well, boasting a 9-3 record at the top doubles position. The Warriors have yet to drop the doubles point in a conference match this season.

Against conference opponents, seven different Warriors have been featured in the singles lineup with a 28-8 overall record. Anderson and Brooke Jorgensen are both undefeated in league play and nobody on the roster has more than two singles losses, helping the Warriors sit at 5-1 in the NSIC.
