MARYVILLE, Mo.- The Winona State University softball team is set to take part in the 2022 Fairfield Classic at Northwest Missouri State University today, as the Warriors take on NWSU and Missouri Southern.
Winona State (12-6, 0-0 NSIC) will look to fine tune its play in their final non-conference contests of the year and with their NSIC schedule on the horizon.
Today, WSU will face the host Bearcats at noon and then play Missouri Southern State at 4 p.m. On Sunday, WSU will play Missouri Southern first in a 9 a.m. contest and then wrap up the weekend against Northwest Missouri State at 11 a.m.
In the pitching circle,
Liz Pautz and
Abbie Hlas have led the charge over the most recent Warrior contests, with Pautz notching a 7-3 record so far this year and Hlas having a 3-1 mark. Pautz has recorded an impressive 126 strikeouts in 70.2 innings of work so far this year.
At the plate, Hlas tops the Winona State chart in terms of batting average, hitting .364 so far this year with seven RBI and five doubles.
Sam Keller is hitting .362 and
Libby Neveau has three home runs to lead the team.
Marissa Mullen has collected 12 RBI this year, the top Warrior mark.
Northwest Missouri State enters the weekend with a 5-18 overall record and Missouri Southern has earned a 14-8 mark this season.
